Squares of Love Quilt Ministry

Each quilt is unique by fabric and color.quilt1
The quilt has many imperfections as we all do but we are covered by the cross of Jesus.

These quilts cannot be purchased at any price.
They are a free gift from God.
The Lord takes the broken pieces of our lives and makes us a new creation in Him. We at Squares of Love take scrapes of donated materials and weave them to make something beautiful to spread God’s love.

The purpose of this quilt ministry is to distribute warm and welcome handmade quilts to our shut-in’s and to those in need of God’s love in our community, nursing homes, hospitals, crisis centers, shelters, etc.

These homemade quilts meet a very special need.  They are given to individuals who suffer from severe physical trauma or illness, lengthy hospital stay, sickness of duration and who are somewhat isolated during their moment of great physical need.  They need to know they are not alone in their suffering and that Christians are praying for them.

quilt2Church members are welcome to use these quilts as a witness tool to reach people inside and outside of our church family.  Church members, who know anyone meeting these criteria and needing a quilt, should contact Tania Newton or a Member of the Pastoral Staff.

Squares of Love Quilt Ministry will never say no – to someone who wants to donate, to a person or group needing quilts, or to a group wanting to set up their own quilt ministry. (We do not sell, or give quilts for an individual’s request.)

CRBC Quilt Ministry Needs You!!

Can you pray, cut fabric, tie knots, use a sewing machine and iron?  Then CRBC Quilt Ministry needs your help.  On the first Tuesday of each month CRBC Quilt Ministry will be constructing lap quilts in the FLC that will be delivered to our shut-in’s and those in need of God’s love in our community, nursing homes, hospitals, crisis centers and shelters.

The lap quilts will be constructed with donated materials; fabric, thread, and batting.  The Ministry can use your monetary donations as well to help purchase supplies.

This gift has meaning in its design:

•    Each lap quilt consists of 70 hand-cut squares, with 7 columns representing our spiritual growth through the 7 churches.
•    The 10 rows represent the 10 Commandments.  We have been given instructions on how we are to live by the Ten Commandments

•    The Cross is a visual reminder of our Lords sacrifice.
•    The 12 Squares of the cross represent the 12 disciples.  We are all called to be Disciples of Christ.
•    Each quilt is unique by fabric and colors.  Most having two basic fabrics or colors which demonstrates our one-on-one relationship with the Lord.
•    As with the different fabrics, we weave our lives together with His.
•    They are not perfect; neither are we.  But His love is.
•    Some quilts will have 4 corners in a contrasting color.  This represents the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John who recorded the life and ministry of Jesus.
•    Other quilts may have it’s border in 8 contrasting blocks.  This is significant of the 8 Beatitudes.  We remember Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount where he described the traits his followers should have.
•    The Cross Roads Baptist Church Squares of Love label is specially placed so that it rests at the right “hand” of the cross on the quilts reverse side.
•    Even how the quilt is folded is representative of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit by being folded in three’s.
•    And by simply using the lap quilt, we are reminded that we are covered by the cross of Jesus Christ.
